It sometimes seems unfair that the bride should get all the attention on her wedding day, especially when her groom looks like the double of Hong Kong star Donnie Yen. Vincent, with a serious expression on his face, describes that he and Karen met at a very romantic location…the Sydney Badminton Club and the first thing that she ever said to him was, “Have you played yet?”
All jokes aside, our special couple truly looks like a romantic celebrity couple on their special day. It goes to show that not all happy couples start out with an amazing story, but what we can have is a humorous groom who looks like a respectable Hong Kong actor. Perhaps that is good enough.
But let’s not make a big fuss about our almost Donnie Yen, when the most impressive thing about this wedding was that it was planned in 7 weeks! Some couples take a year or more to plan their wedding, but this lucky couple managed to lock their ceremony location at the Hickson Rd Reserve (The Rocks) and held their reception at L’Aqua, Cockle Bay Wharf.
We never had a more fun-loving couple, which of course makes our jobs here at Le Motion a little bit more enjoyable than it already is. We, along with photographer Vincent Lai, had the most fun documenting the hilarious games our bridesmaids put Vincent and his groomsmen through.
Sometimes Asian couples have the privilege of having not only one but two wedding ceremonies, a traditional one and a civil one. In doing so, a couple embraces the new age but also honour their origins. Even though a civil ceremony in Australia must be held in English, our celebrant Joyce Li offers the option of holding a bilingual ceremony (partially in Mandarin or Cantonese). It’s the best of both worlds and we can’t find a finer example than Karen and Vincent’s wedding.
